Burn Run terms

Play is free. Minting is a purchase. When custom burns are open, the all-time #1 on each edition can unlock the option to buy a custom burn of their own picture.

Custom burns are not open yet; lines marked Draft apply only when they open.

Playing

  • Play is free, with no sign-in. Pick the plate (coaster) or the black business card.
  • A run goes on the board after our server checks it. Your initials are three letters, and we can hide any that break the house rules.
  • A wallet is needed only to mint, to claim, or to upload a custom burn.

Minting a drawing

  • Minting is a purchase. There are three options, shown on the page: Mint + Burn + Ship (ETH), Mint + Burn + Ship (#PIXEL), and Mint only (ETH).
  • Mint + Burn + Ship (ETH): you pay the price plus a flat US shipping fee. The page shows price, shipping and total before you pay. We mint the token to your wallet right away and it is yours, not locked. Then you add a US shipping address and we burn it and ship the physical piece.
  • Mint + Burn + Ship (#PIXEL): you pay in #PIXEL and shipping is included. You approve the pixels, you do not send them: we collect them by hand, then the token mints to your wallet, unlocked. Then you add a US shipping address and we burn and ship it.
  • Mint only (ETH): you buy just the token. No shipping is paid and nothing is shipped, and the token is NOT locked — it stays yours to keep or trade. A mint-only token has no physical burn.
  • We collect your US shipping address at the burn-and-ship step and check it with the US Census Bureau’s free address lookup (and our shipping service) before anything is burned or shipped. We ship to United States addresses only.
  • ETH payments need a regular wallet: a contract (smart) wallet cannot pay with ETH here, because its payment cannot be checked. It can pay with #PIXEL.
  • 18+ to buy or upload.
  • A drawing can have only one live order, so each piece is a 1 of 1.
  • Each piece gets its No. in the order it goes out. Until the burn starts it reads "No. pending".
  • If we cannot mint your token, or cannot produce and ship your piece, we refund your payment in the same asset. Network fees are not refunded.
  • A payment that arrives after its order lapsed, or below the total due, is refunded and nothing mints for it.

Burn & ship

  • Burn and ship is the step that turns a token you hold into a physical piece. A token you bought with a ship option has already paid its price and shipping, so this step only takes your address; a mint-only token pays the per-token burn-and-ship price plus shipping here. Everything due is shown before you pay.
  • You can put several of your unlocked tokens in one shipment, up to the limit the page shows; shipping is charged once for the whole shipment, and only when at least one token still owes it.
  • You can burn and ship a token you hold at any time; there is no deadline. Until you do, the token stays yours and tradeable.
  • Normies holders get a discount on a burn and ship of two or more tokens, shown on the page before you pay.
  • Burn and ship is paid in ETH only for now.
  • The token must be owned by the paying wallet when the payment clears, or the payment is refunded and nothing is burned.
  • A token you bought with shipping included carries that shipping with it: if you transfer the token, whoever holds it can burn and ship it without paying again.
  • A token locks to its burn only at the burn-and-ship step, when we lock it on-chain. Locking is final and cannot be undone, so check the address you give before you confirm; after it locks, the token can no longer be transferred or sold.

Custom burns

When custom burns are open, the all-time #1 on each edition can unlock one custom burn: you upload your own picture, we turn it into dots, and we burn exactly what the preview shows.

  • An unlock is issued when a run takes #1 while custom burns are open. A #1 set before they open does not unlock one; the next new #1 does. Draft
  • The run needs a minimum number of cells, shown in the game: at launch, 1,000 on the plate and 467 on the card. Draft
  • At launch: at most one unlock per edition every 7 days, and one custom burn per wallet per edition every 30 days. Draft
  • An unlock lasts 30 days. Draft
  • Personal. A shared or sold unlock is revoked.
  • Before you pay, you tick this box: I own this picture or have permission, and everyone in it is OK with it.
  • Your picture is not shown on the token unless you choose to show it. Draft
  • You are responsible for the picture you upload. Draft

House rules: no devil stuff, no hate, no nudity, no gore, no QR codes, links or addresses, no other people's logos, and everyone in the picture is OK with it. Break them and we refund you and don't burn it. Sorry, dog. We don't play that game.

  • Illegal content is reported and held, not refunded.

Tax and shipping

  • We do not collect sales tax yet. Sales of physical goods can be taxable even when paid in crypto.
  • We ship to United States addresses only. On an ETH ship option a flat shipping fee is added to the price and shown before you pay; on a #PIXEL ship option shipping is included. We collect and check your US address at the burn-and-ship step, before anything is burned or shipped. We do not ship outside the United States.

Your data

  • For play, we keep a one-way hash of your network address for 24 hours to limit abuse.
  • With an order or a custom-burn unlock, we keep that hash, your wallet address and your encrypted shipping details (name, address, email and phone) with the order record. They are used to ship your piece and to handle refunds and abuse.
